PLANNING

Planning is another component of National System for Conservation de Areas (SINAC because of its Spanish words) and also of the Tortuguero Conservation Area (ACTo in Spanish).

The Planning Unit of ACTo pursuits the following objectives:

  1. Evaluate the institutional performance.
  2. Standard the information generated in ACTo.
  3. Make public the information generated in ACTo among the different social actors in the region.
  4. Facilitate the access and use of technical y technological tools of ACTo personnel.

The Planning Unit is divided into 4 programs, such as: Information, Technical Support, Geographic Information System, and Planning itself.
Information: this component is related to the recompilation, analysis, and diffusion of information of ACTo, by the official mechanism called SEMEC reports.
Technical Support: it refers to the support, and maintenance of computer equipment. Also, the design and maintenance of the internal net, server’s administration, and maintenance and update of the ACTo´s webb site.
Geographic Information System (G.I.S.): This program pretends to compile digital and geographic information generated by other public and private institutions. Additionally, it is producing its own information.
Planning: it is responsible for making public policies, directives, issued by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the National System of Conservation Areas, and by ACTo, in planning subjects. In addition, this program is in charge of the evaluation and monitoring of the action of the conservation area.
